Mastering Manual Mode - May 8, 15, 22, 29 2025
Learn to be creative with your camera by mastering the manual mode. This is a beginning course starting at ground zero. So dust off that DSLR or Mirrorless camera that you bought with the best intentions and become the photographer you always wanted to be. The class will be lecture format, with in-class exercises and optional homework.
By the end of the course you should have a basic understanding of the following:
- Fundamentals of light
- Controlling the exposure
- Shutter Speed
- Aperture and Depth of Field
- Focusing techniques
- Camera Lens and Focal Length
- Making sense of ISO, megapixels and sensors
- Basic Composition
It meets once a week on Thursdays from 6:30-9:00 for 4 weeks.

Shots In The Dark: Low Light Photography - June 12, 2025
Low light photography is always a challenge. Pamela will lead us in a review of the best ways to add light to our sensor and how to improve our focusing. We’ll take a closer look at the dreaded noise problem by discussing the real cause of noise and how our histogram can help. It meets on a Thursday from 6:30-8:30.
Not So Candid Camera: People Photography - July 10, 2025
Capturing natural-looking images of people can be more challenging than you might think. We’ve all experienced that magical moment when someone has the perfect expression or a heartwarming, loving scene unfolds.
The urge to capture these moments is strong, and we reach for our cameras, only to be disappointed when we review the images. They don’t reflect what we saw. Pamela will explore the reasons behind this and give you some practical tips to help you take more natural-looking photos. It meets on a Thursday from 6:30-8:30
Photo Organization in Lightroom Classic - Aug 21, 28, 2025
As photographers we love to shoot photos. But what do we do with them? Which ones do we keep? And most importantly - How in the world do I find that one photo I took a few years back? We will be working with Lightroom Classic to cull and organize our photos. It meets once a week on Thursdays from 6:30- 8:30 for 2 weeks.
